How To Play Spider Solitaire
The goal: clear the whole board by building eight complete runs of a single suit, from King all the way down to Ace. Each finished run flies away on its own — clear all eight and you win.
The board
- Ten columns hold the cards you play with. Only the bottom (fully visible) card of each column starts face up; more flip up as you clear the cards on top of them.
- The stock (top-right) is the pile you deal more cards from.
- The foundations (top-left) are eight slots that fill in as you complete runs.
Moving cards
- Build downward. You can drop a card onto any card that is one rank higher — suit doesn’t matter here.
- Move a group only if it’s one suit. You can pick up several cards at once only when they’re the same suit in running order. A single card can always move on its own.
- Empty columns will take any card or any group.
Dealing more cards
Stuck? Tap the stock to deal one new card onto every column at once. The only rule: you can’t deal while any column is completely empty — fill it first.
Completing a run
When a column ends in a full same-suit sequence it clears itself to a foundation automatically. Eight of those and the game is won.
