How To Play Golf Solitaire
Nine quick holes — the lowest total score wins.
The layout
Seven columns are dealt five face-up cards each. The rest form the stock, with one card turned up to start the waste — that card is your base.
Playing cards
You can play the exposed card at the bottom of any column onto the base when it is one rank higher or lower. Suit doesn't matter.
- On a 7♥ you may play any 6 or any 8 — that card becomes the new base, and you keep building from there.
- No wrap: a K and an A do not connect. The sequence can't loop around.
- Tap a highlighted card to play it.
The stock
Stuck? Tap the stock to turn its next card onto the waste as a fresh base. There's no redeal — a single pass, so save it for when you're truly blocked.
Ending a hole
A hole ends when you clear the board or run out of moves. Then it's scored — and in golf, low is good:
| Clear the board | −1 per card left in the stock |
| Get stuck | +1 per card left in the columns |
So finishing early with cards to spare pushes your score below zero — the best kind of hole.
The round
Play nine holes and add up the scores. Your total is your round; the aim is to go as low as you can, and your best round is remembered.
Buttons
- Hint — points out a card you can play (or tells you to deal).
- Undo — steps back within the hole.
- New round — starts a fresh nine holes.
